Sharjah Ladies Club gears up for Sharjah Ladies Run

SHARJAH: Sharjah Ladies Club is gearing up to launch the 2nd edition of its Sharjah Ladies Run event, themed ‘Night Neon Run’.

The race will take place at the University City in Sharjah, on Friday, January 30th from 6:00 p.m., with the participation of hundreds of women and girls aged 15 and over. The first edition of the race won the Fitness Event of the Year Award at the Fit Awards 2014, adding another success story to the club’s achievements.

The race aims to encourage awareness of the importance of exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle among women of all ages.

Speaking on the occasion, Badria Al Ali, Head of Corporate Communication at Sharjah Ladies Club, said, “The Night Neon Run event is part of Sharjah Ladies Club’s continuous aims to provide a sporting and health platform to ladies and girls residing in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.

The event aims to motivate participants to make positive lifestyle changes and prevent health complications. The race will feature three different categories including the 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km routes that will be open to all participants. We hope the race will receive a great response as the case was with the previous run, held back in April.” Ladies and girls wishing to participate in the Neon Night Run event can register at the main reception of Sharjah Ladies Club or visit the official website and receive the race pack.

The competition will be sponsored by Bee’ah (Main Sponsor), Daman (Gold Sponsor), Sharjah Sports Council and Sia (Silver Sponsors), Women Sport Department at Sharjah Ladies Club and Bin Hendi Enterprises (Voss) (Support Sponsors), and Natura Bisse and Lorna Jane (Gift Sponsors).

In April 2014, Sharjah Ladies Club organised the first edition of Sharjah Ladies Run at the University City in Sharjah. The event attracted more than 300 women from different age groups, representing a number of government and private entities in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.

Sharjah Ladies Club aims to provide women with an environment to excel and prosper in order to enhance their position in society and enable them to play a larger role in developing their country. Moreover, the club provides women and children with a relaxing and nurturing place where they can learn and practice sports and other hobbies.

SLC organises a number of events and activities in the domains of sports, art and music, entertainment, culture and knowledge, and health and well-being. These activities are devoted exclusively for women and children, and are organised throughout the year.
