Sheikha Fatima initiative to provide needs of Syrian refugees in Winter launched

ABU DHABI: The initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, was launched today to provide Syrian refugees with their needs for the winter season.

The move comes in line with the initiatives of Sheikha Fatima to provide the necessary needs to the refugees, and draw attention to their dire condition. About 14,000 Syrian refugees will benefit from the initiative at the camps and across Jordan. It will provide food and health parcels, heaters and blankets.

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) distributed the relief aid, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Oman, the UAE Relief Team, the Jordanian Red Crescent Society and a number of international organisations, to the refugees.

In a statement, the ERC praised Sheikha Fatima for her continuous humanitarian initiatives, citing her local, regional and international humanitarian status.

The ERC delegation has recently left for Jordan to make preparations to implement the initiative.
