Shurooq revealed that renowned Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir, Syrian singer Lina Shamamian, and Lebanese artist Omaima Khalil will participate in the festival, making their debut in Sharjah at three shows that will be held in various venues across the emirate.

The 13 countries include the UAE, Egypt, England, France, India, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldavia, Oman, Spain, and Syria. The participants will present a variety of vocal and musical performances aimed at a range of different audiences.

Speaking on the occasion, Fatima Al Shweihi, Sharjah World Music Fesitival coordinator at Shurooq, said, “The first edition of Sharjah World Music Festival that was hosted in Al Qasba in last January was a resounding success, thanks to the participation of award winning musicians from across the world and the huge audience response. Through organising the 2nd edition of the festival next January, we are looking forward to boosting the presence of the Emirate of Sharjah on the regional, cultural and artistic map and to boost tourist traffic to Sharjah, by hosting a number of the best Arab and foreign artists and bands who will perform to audiences at five venues, not just the one venue as in the first edition of the festival”.

Five venues selected for the 2nd SWMF’s musical shows and concerts are Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah, and Flag Island.

Furat Qaddouri, founder of Furat Qaddouri Music Center, said, “By co-organising the region’s most important of its kind musical festival in collaboration with Shurooq, we have been eager to attract high-profile vocalists who satisfy various artistic tastes in Sharjah and the UAE. We are proud, this year, to host three of the most important Arab artists who will make their debut in the Emirate of Sharjah.”
