Sultan Al Qasimi regulates Sharjah Urban Planning Council

SHARKJAH: H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued law No. (3) of 2014, on regulating the objectives and functions of the Sharjah Urban Planning Council.

The law stipulates that the council will enjoy autonomous legal status to discharge all functions and work to enable it achieve its goals. It also states that the council will enjoy financial and administrative independence.

Under the law, the council’s main headquarters will be in Sharjah, and after the approval from the Executive Board, the council can establish branches and offices in the emirate.

The law aims to achieve the following objectives: 1- preparation of overall urban development and infrastructure projects strategy, to be submitted to the Ruler, and 2- supervising over the preparation, implementation, follow-up, and updating of the strategic plans of the competent government departments in charge of the urban development, infrastructure and environmental affairs.
