TRA Sharikna Application receives award from Dubai Police

DUBAI: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, announced that its Sharikna (Join Us) application has won an award during the first forum for best experiences and smart applications in community outreach, recently organised by Dubai Police headquarters.

Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, the Commander-in-Chief at Dubai Police, presented an honour shield to the TRA in recognition of the different features and functions provided by its innovative application.

The Sharikna application is a social networking channel similar to Twitter. It allows users to follow specific topics and receive the latest updates on issues of their interest. The new version of the portal uses Gamification which applies game-design to make applications more fun, effectively engaging users in interactive activities with one another and with the government. This initiative comes as part of the ongoing efforts towards achieving the objectives of the UAE mGovernment which aims to achieve the highest levels of satisfaction in providing government services as its utmost priority.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General, UAE mGovernment, said, “The Sharikna app comes within the framework of the e-participation policy inspired by the approach of the UAE’s wise leadership, which encourages listening to people’s feedback and using their opinions in developing government policies and services. This also complies with the ultimate goal of the UAE mGovernment which is the transition from customer satisfaction to customer delight. We are proud to be honoured with this award especially that it is offered by Dubai Police which spares no effort to ensure the comfort of citizens and achieve the highest level of security and happiness for them at all times. I would like to thank Dubai Police for their generous gesture and applaud their ongoing efforts in supporting the goals of UAE mGovernment.” This forum serves as a platform supporting the Dubai Police Strategic Plan 2012-2015, by benefitting from successful local experiences, transferring knowledge, sharing expertise in the field of smart awareness initiatives, and developing partnerships with all government and private entities in this area.
