UAE Ambassador to Italy presents credentials as UAE’s permanent representative to FAO

ROME, 18th February, 2015 (WAM) — Saqr Nasser Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to Italy, has presented copies of his credentials to Jose Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), as the UAE’s permanent representative to the organisation.

Al Rais conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, extending appreciation for his efforts to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the FAO and the UAE.

During the meeting, da Silva discussed ways to develop relations between the FAO and the UAE in the fields of agriculture and livestock, as well as horizons of joint cooperation.

He also praised the generous support provided by the UAE to the FAO to combat catastrophes, emergencies and problems of food shortage faced by the world repeatedly.

da Silva also lauded his strong relations with Emirati officials, and the wise policies of the UAE’s leadership in the field of sustainable environment, agriculture and water resources, as established by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

On his part, Al Raisi expressed his appreciation for the vital role played by the organisation in the area of agricultural development and provision of food security for mankind, stressing his determination to exert all efforts to boost ties between the FAO and the country.

At the end of the meeting, the FAO’s director general asked Al Raisi to convey his greetings to Sheikh Abdullah, wishing him and the UAE permanent progress and prosperity.
