UAE Embassy in Khartoum celebrates UAE’s 43rd National Day

KHARTOUM: The UAE Ambassador to Sudan, Hassan Ahmed Sulaiman Al Shehhi, has hosted a grand reception at Al Salam Rotana Khartoum Hotel to celebrate the UAE’s 43rd National Day.

Mustafa Osman Ismail, Representative of the President of Sudan and Minister of Investment, Minister of Finance and National Economy, Badr al-Din Mahmoud Abbas, Babakr Ahmed Dagna, Minister of State at the Ministry of Interior, Al-Tijani al-Sisi, Chairman of Transitional Darfur Regional Authority (TDRA), Siddiq Mohammed Ali al-Shaikh, Deputy Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, ministers, senior officials, members of Sudan National Assembly, leaders of political parties, representatives of the Sudanese states, VIPs, community leaders, academicians, thinkers, representatives of the media and members of the UAE community in Sudan attended the reception.

In his speech at the event, Ambassador Al Shehhi extended heartfelt greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the government and people of the UAE.

He highlighted the overall development in the UAE which he said the government harnessed all its resources in the service of the nation and nationals to build a modern federal state that dedicates the values of cohesion and unity and consolidates the principles of work, giving and participation, deepens patriotism and allegiance to the leadership and protects human dignity and rights as the foundations for security and social stability.

He lauded the outstanding fraternal relations between the UAE and Sudan noting that they are a top priority for President of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President of Omar Hassan Al-Bashir.

Al Shehhi also noted that His Highness Sheikh Khalifa has recently designated 2015 as the Year of Innovation, in a plan to make the UAE a world innovative leader and to add to the country’s efforts to promote innovation for sectors including renewable energy, transport, technology, water and space.

He also noted that the UAE, in July, set up the UAE space agency and announced plans to send the Arab world’s first mission to Mars – headed by Emiratis – by 2021 with the UAE Mars probe representing the Islamic world’s entry into the era of space exploration. This, Al Shehhi noted, builds on the UAE’s achievements in Space’s telecommunications, renewable and energy, satellite industry, aviation, peaceful nuclear energy and other strategic sectors.

For his part, Mustafa Osman Ismail, Representative of the President of Sudan, expressed his country’s pride in the fraternal relations with Sudan. He also greeted His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and Emiratis on the UAE’s 43rd National Day and expressed appreciation of the UAE’s role in supporting the causes of Arabs and Muslims. He further noted the UAE’s assistance to Sudan in all fields, and the UAE’s various political, economic achievements.
