UAE honours ”Mother of the Nation” for her support for advancement and empowerment of women

Abu Dhabi: A grand ceremony was hosted today at the Emirates Palace to pay tribute to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), and of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, on the Mother’s Day in recognition of her firm, constant support for development, advancement and empowerment of UAE women.

The “Mother of The Nation – Pride of The UAE” evening was hosted by Emirates Business Women Council to celebrate and honour the humanitarian works and achievements of H.H in assisting disaster-hit countries, building schools and hospitals in poor countries and sustaining needy people so as to live a decent life.

The event featured diverse musical, poetic and theatrical programmes lasted for two hours in praise and eulogy of the charitable and giving values of the character of the Mother of the Nation.

Addressing the audience, Fatima Obeid Al Jaber, Chairwoman of Emirates Businesswomen Council, extended warm congratulations to H.H. on the glorious occasion, wishing her and all mothers in the UAE good health and happiness.

Al Jaber said that Sheikha Fatima had a proven record of spectacular achievements for over four decades.

”H.H. lead the feminist movement in the UAE and became the Mother of the Nation and trendsetter, spreading awareness amongst women. She was the first women who paved the way before women for education and work and the first advocate for women’s participation in development and service of the nation in all fields,” Al Jaber noted.

She said the today’s celebration is a message of profound love and gratitude to the Mother of the Nation.

The event was organised by Al Asala Event Management Company under the patronage of the President’s Private Department and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces, and support of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
