UAE leadership raises slogan of global competitiveness in development of national human resources, says Al Murr

DUBAI: Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) has underlined that the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, embarks on the global competitiveness regarding the development of national human resources. He cited that the UAE has been ranked on the top positions in the area of global competitiveness as per the international reports and indices.

Al Murr said the sustenance of such achievements require tough race with other countries to attain greater knowledge through conferences and symposiums that contribute to the scientific awareness in the UAE, adding that the private sector should be a strong partner in supporting the scientific research as the UAE’s future vision hinges on diversification of national income sources.

He said the UAE leadership deems the scientific research a major component for structuring the state in next years.

Al Murr was speaking at the First Annual National Forum for Emirati Researchers under the theme: “Horizons and Foundations of Scientific Research in UAE”, organised by the General Secretariat of the “Federal National Council” in cooperation with the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research at Hyatt Grand Hotel here today.

The event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the FNC, Saif Rashid Al Mazrouei, Assistant Under-Secretary of Institutional Services at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a number of Vice Chancellors, research centres, academics, ministries, local and federal institutions.

Al Mazrouei who read the speech on behalf of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, thanked Al Murr and members of the FNC for organising the forum in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

“We are aware about the importance of the scientific research in the socio-economic development, and provision of appropriate environment for innovation and scientific creativities in all sciences and technology to upgrade services in the areas of health, energy, telecommunications, IT, transport, agriculture, industry, water quality and other fields.”
