UAE model of tolerance applauded at seminar on ‘Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance’ in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 5th February, 2015 (WAM)–The participants at the 4th International Seminar on Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance, in Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, have welcomed the inaugural speech of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

The event coincides with the World Interfaith Harmony Week, which kicked off yesterday.

A number of key speakers commented on points raised by Sheikh Nahyan, while the work papers presented by the UAE delegation were received positively by the participants and the students of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The speakers unanimously agreed on the importance of peaceful coexistence among the followers of religions and cultures, and respect for others. They renounced the extremism and called for respect of the freedoms of peoples, stressing the role of the UAE in tolerance and coexistence among its people, as well as its prominent role in this respect at the Arab, Islamic and international levels.
