UAE partakes Arab League reform commission meeting

CAIRO, 12th February 2015 (WAM) — The UAE on Thursday took part in the second meeting of the commission on reforming and developing the Arab League.

The UAE was represented to the meeting by Ali Al Shamili, In-charge of Arab League Affairs at the UAE Embassy in Cairo.

During the meeting which was chaired by Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the Arab League, Aziz Al Dehani, the participants discussed the reports prepared by commission’s four teams led by Saudi Arabia in more than 20 meetings.

The reports will be submitted in March to the Council of the Arab League in the form of a draft bill which will then be submitted to the 26th Arab Summit in Egypt in the same month.

The said commission is working on “real reforms” of the Arab League, including economic and social reforms, promoting popular participation, as well as amending the pan-Arab organisation’s 67-year old charter.
