Ashgabat: The UAE – Turkmenistan Political Consultations Committee met on Thursday at the Turkmenistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss a range of issues of mutual concern and explore a mechanism of boosting bilateral ties and cooperation to pursue mutual interests.
Co-chaired by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, UAE’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Rasit Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the committee also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.
In his address at the meeting, Al Jarman lauded the UAE – Turkmenistan strategic partnership at the bilateral and multilateral levels and emphasised the keenness of the UAE to consolidate these ties so as to realise the aspirations and directives of the higher leadership of both countries and serve mutual interests and objectives of the friendly peoples.
On his part, Meredov affirmed that bilateral ties were receiving special care from President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov. He praised the comprehensive development the UAE is witnessing in the political, economic, cultural and social fields, which he noted, had established the country as an important economic and trade hub, a favourable investment haven for regional and international companies and a leading centre in the sectors of infrastructure, renewable and alternative energy sources and sustainable development. The UAE, he added, set a model to be emulated by other countries in the region.
In his concluding remarks, Al Jarman expressed the hope that the meeting would contribute towards enhancement of bilateral ties, friendship and cooperation and elevate them to realise ambitions of the two countries and serve mutual interests.
He urged the Turkmenistan side to benefit from the UAE’s attractive legislative and economic climate to increase trade exchange, participate in trade fairs and conferences held in the UAE and exchange official visits in order to advance joint cooperation in various spheres.
He valued the role Turkmenistan is playing at the regional and international arenas, adding that Turkmenistan was following the positive neutral policy in an ideal environment that promotes values of participation, social responsibility and effective contribution to efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering in international humanitarian crises, thus maintaining regional security and stability.
He stressed that the two sides needed to maintain greater joint solidarity and coordination amidst the current rapid and pressing regional and international events. He affirmed that partnerships provide the essence of success and the solid ground for effective multilateral cooperation.
