UAE-UK Pioneers Forum a great success

LONDON, 8th February, 2015 (WAM) — The UAE Embassy in London, in cooperation with Etihad Rail, has hosted the second edition of the UAE-UK Pioneers Forum, a career fair for Emirati students seeking to meet the UAE and UK’s leading employers. The forum took place on Saturday the 7th January 2015, at the Park Plaza Hotel in London.

After the success of its first ever Pioneers Forum last year, the Embassy was keen to build on this, and ensure that Emirati students were given the chance to interact with senior business leaders and be introduced the many employment opportunities in the UAE. The 2015 UAE – UK Pioneers Forum was a must-attend event for all young aspiring Emiratis studying in the UK and Western Europe. With 26 exhibiting companies, from the UAE and the UK, the 2015 event was even bigger than last year’s successful event.

On the occasion, Abdul Rahman Ghanem Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee, UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom, said, “This event not only allows us to bring together these students and the best organisations in the UAE under one roof, but is also an opportunity for us to recognise students who have shown excellence in their area of studies.” “With a Mars probe scheduled for launch within the decade, and Expo 2020 expected to attract 25 million visitors to the country, as well as some of the largest architectural projects in the world, the UAE represents a frontier of great possibility for new talent,” added Al Mutaiwee, regarding the chosen theme, Innovation.

Alongside the career fair, the forum also invited students to participate in numerous talks and panel discussions, including talks by Etihad Rail, Khalifa Fund, the UAE Space Agency, and Watani Al Emarat Foundation. Panel discussions covered topics such as, Banking, Infrastructure and Telecoms, and Social Responsibility.

Etihad Rail’s Senior Manger of Corporate Affairs, Ahmed A Musawa Al Hashemi, said, “As the national rail network of the UAE, Etihad Rail is creating an exciting new industry in the UAE. Attracting the brightest new Emirati talent to help deliver this major project, and develop the future of our sector, is an important priority for us. The careers fair and the Pioneers Forum this year presented a great opportunity for many ambitious young professionals to learn about employment opportunities with Etihad Rail, and for us to introduce this vital mega project to the next generation of UAE industry leaders.” The forum hosted several Emirati dignitaries and senior leadership figures as well as 300 Emirati students.

The Embassy also hosted an opening ceremony dinner for the exhibitors on the evening of the 6th of February, where high achieving students were also awarded. This was organised with the support of the Cultural Attache in London, which ensured the attendance of all its students.

This event was in partnership with Etihad Rail. Participating companies were: ADCB, ADCED, ADIA, ADNOC, ADPC, ADS Securities, Barclays, BP, Carillion, DEWA, DU, Dubai Investments, EAD, EGA, Emirates Foundation, Khalifa Fund, KHDA, Masdar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mubadala, PWC, Shurooq, Standard Chartered, Tawazun, Thuraya, Watani Al Emarat Foundation and the Emirates Space Agency.
