Upon Fatimaand#039s directives, ERC delivers sheltering assistance to Bedouins in Aden

Abu Dhabi, 21st November, 2015 (WAM) — The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has distributed sheltering materials to help in the efforts to resettle Bedouins in the outskirts of the Governorate of Aden.
The assistance, which had benefited thousands of families living along a 46 km stretch of the south-west coastline of Aden, forms the third of the vital development projects being implemented as per the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women s Union (GWU) and the Family Development Foundation (FDF), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC) and Honorary Chairwoman of the ERC, to improve healthcare, educational and sheltering services for people affected by the ongoing events in Yemen.
The ERC officials said aid workers had to negotiate bumpy roads and rough terrains to distribute large quantities of tents, covers, blankets, mattresses, electric lamps and water containers to the Bedouin families which had already been enduring severe conditions which worsened as a result of the ongoing events.
”His Highness’ timely initiative was aimed at improving the living conditions of these families,” they said.
A majority of Bedouins and nomads are living a primitive, simple life in the areas between the Governorates of Lahej and Aden in south Yemen. They raise goats, cows and camels, but face difficulties in fetching water and meeting their daily needs.
Sheikha Fatima’s initiative gives them hope for resettlement and a decent life.
