Western Region Development Council announces dates for second Al Gharbia Development Forum

ABU DHABI: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, the second edition of the Al Gharbia Development Forum will be held on May 20th at the St. Regis Hotel, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

The forum aims to fuel investment in the area that will ultimately contribute to the region’s prosperity and economic growth by increasing productivity in key sectors of Al Gharbia such as agriculture, tourism and infrastructure, the Western Region Development Council (WRDC) said in an announcement today.

In 2013, the forum featured top government stakeholders and over 400 attendees at the opening ceremony.

The forum will include senior decision-makers representing the government, investors and private businesses and it will feature new developments, planned projects and those that are underway. The forum will open doors to new opportunities whereby developers and investors will network and share best practices implemented not only on a local level but across the GCC.

Organised in cooperation with MEED Events, the forum presents a comprehensive review of the progress of development initiatives in Al Gharbia and welcomes all types of investors and developers interested in the region to attend.

On this occasion Mohammad Hamad bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Western Region and Director-General of the Western Region Development Council (WRDC) said, “In line with the vision and continuous support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, as WRDC, we are proud to have initiated this forum. The success of last year’s event, thanks to our key stakeholders from the private and public sector, has highlighted Al Gharbia and it’s potential for investment on the world map and further emphasised the opportunities that lie within.

“The Forum provides a perfect platform for attendees to network and further establish strategic partnerships to exploit the opportunities that exist within this vast region. This year’s forum will again highlight the full potential of the region, the development updates and the opportunities available for potential investors and businesses. On behalf of WRDC, we look forward to seeing you there,” he concluded.
