2nd conference of Islamic Ministers of Youths and Sports concludes in Jeddah

JEDDAH: The 2nd Conference of Islamic Ministers of Youths and Sports , who are members of the Jeddah-based Islamic Cooperation Organisation, has concluded in Jeddah. The conference, held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was chaired on his behalf by Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the General President of Youth Welfare, President of Sports Federation of Islamic Solidarity and Chairman of Youths Council in Islamic countries.

In a final communiqu?, the conference voiced support for promoting national youth polices that cover all scientific, technical, cultural, health and sports fields, calling on all educational authorities to insert the principles of education on citizenship and human rights in their curricula in all educational levels in the member countries, according to Saudi Press Agency, SPA.

It urged for work to protect youths from the phenomena of sports fanaticism and to pay necessary care to Muslim youths outside the Muslim world through supporting cultural centres and Arab Muslim educational institutions in those regions, provide material and moral incentives for young researchers and innovators and those with special needs from the member countries.

The conference also urged sport and youths institutions, Olympic committees and sports federations in Islamic countries to support the cause of Palestine at international sports organisations. It called on member states to cooperate with the Islamic Youths Council, assigned the Sports Federation for Islamic Solidarity to follow up the implementation of this declaration with other relevant organisations, called on the Sports Federation for Islamic Solidarity, and the ISESCO to put programmes and activities within the joint agreement aiming to enable youths to develop their roles.

It also called on the Secretariat-General of the ICO to circulate this declaration to the specialised Islamic conferences and the concerned Arab, Islamic and International organisations, offered thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for patronising the conference and providing the necessary facilities to make it a success, as well as the Saudi Youth Welfare, the ICO, the Sports Federation for Islamic Solidarity and ISESCO for their efforts in promoting youth situations in member states and making the conference a success.
