A Russian official: The control of Damascus on the Syrian-Iraqi border will contribute to reduce the threats of “Daesh”

BAGHDAD, The Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nibenzia, said that Syrian restoration of control of the border between it and Iraq would positively affect the war against the terrorist Daesh.

“We are confident that the restoration of control of the entire Syrian-Iraqi border will contribute to the final elimination of the threat of the Daesh organization,” he said, referring to the Syrian-Iraqi coordination.

On the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, the Russian delegate said: “The withdrawal of foreign troops stationed in Syria without permission from the legitimate authority is a step in the right direction.”
