Abdul-Mahdi directs the crisis cell to deal with the Nineveh floods and protect the lives of citizens

BAGHDAD, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi directed the crisis cell to deal with the Nineveh floods, and the need to protect the lives of citizens and then the preservation of public and private property.

“The Prime Minister directed the crisis cell, the governors and other relevant bodies to take the necessary immediate decisions and follow up their implementation on the ground to minimize the damage of the floods that hit a number of our dear provinces, especially Nineveh,” Abdul Mahdi’s office said in a press release.

“Abdul-Mahdi stressed that the first priority is to protect the lives of citizens and then preserve the public and private property, and the inventory of damage and to report urgently to take decisions and provide urgent assistance.”

The statement said that the field teams confirmed that there was no loss of lives and that the measures are continuing to reduce the material damage, especially in the displaced camps in Hammam Al-Alil 2 where 17 sectors were exposed to flooding, which led to the destruction of 340 tents, and the citizens have been evacuated to safe places.”
