Ajman Ruler receives delegation of retired British Officers

AJMAN: H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, received this morning a delegation of retired British Officers who worked in the Trucial Oman Scouts (TOS) during the nineteen fifties and sixties and who are currently visiting the country with their families.

H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi welcomed the officers and their families to the U.A.E. and wished them a pleasant stay, encouraging them to witness the cultural, urban and economic renaissance which has taken place in the country under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, praising the distinguish relations of cooperation and friendship between the U.A.E. and the U.K..

H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid exchanged happy memories with the delegate members about their work in the Trucial Oman Scouts, especially in the areas of Masfoot and Manama.

H.H. the Ruler of Ajman presented souvenirs and copies of “Rashid – Biography of a Ruler”, which tells the life story of the late Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, former Ruler of Ajman, to the British Officers in recognition of the role they played before the U.A.E. was established.

The delegation presented H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimia with a copy of a painting by British painter, David Shepherd, featuring the fort is in Al Ain city and bearing the signature of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Lt. Col. David Neild praised the good reception and hospitality extended by the delegation from H.H. the Ruler of Ajman pointing out that all those who served in the country with the Trucial Oman Scouts, carry beautiful and wonderful memories of the period of their service. He explained that he is currently writing a book which deals with the period of his service in the Trucial Oman Scouts.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials.
