Al-Zamanan: Kuwait Is The First To Maintain Contacts With Baghdad To Fulfill Its Promises To Rebuild Iraq

BAGHDAD, Kuwait’s ambassador to Iraq, Salim al-Zamanan said Kuwait was the first to maintain contact with the Iraqi government to fulfill its commitments made during the Kuwait International Conference on Iraq Reconstruction.

Al-Zamanan told a joint news conference with Karbala’s governor Aqeel al-Turaihi on the sidelines of his visit to the province “A delegation from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development visited Baghdad recently and met with the secretary-general of the Iraqi Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alak for this purpose”

He added: “The State of Kuwait is interested in the success of the reconstruction campaign in Iraq, and this has been reflected by its keenness on holding the Kuwait International Conference and the large international presence in it.”

He pointed out that he discussed with al-Turaihi also the investment file in Karbala, especially as it includes significant and promising investment opportunities.

On the other hand, the Kuwaiti ambassador thanked the local government in Karbala for its efforts and facilities for Kuwaiti visitors to religious shrines in the province.

For his part, Karbala Governor Aqeel al-Turaihi said: “The talks touched on many important axes, including the positive relations growing at various levels, praising the Kuwaiti humanitarian support for Iraq over the past period as well as its support in the field of combating terrorism.”

He pointed out that the talks were positive and very frank and touched on the results of the Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction and Kuwait’s serious contribution to success it.

They also discussed ways of cooperation in the field of investment and facilitate the functions of businessmen as well as cooperation in the fields of culture and sports and the activation of mutual visits. “
