Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo meets His Holiness Pope Twadros II

HE Dr. Ahmed Nayef al-Dulaimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, His Holiness Pope Twadros II, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the Diocese of St. Mark, at the papal headquarters of the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbasiyah.

The two sides discussed the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and the importance of co-existence between the heavenly religions in the Arab world.

For his part, Ambassador Dulaimi, the role of the Iraqi government in providing a safe environment for the return of displaced Christian families to their liberated areas in the city of Nineveh, stressing the determination of the Iraqi government to rebuild and rehabilitate all churches and monasteries targeted by gangs and called obscurantism, stressing that the Christians of Iraq are an important component in the fabric And they have a major role in the political process.

The Pope stressed the importance of the relations between Iraq and Egypt and the role of the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations in the ancient human communication. He appreciated the support of the Iraqi government in the opening of the Coptic Church recently in Baghdad.
