Clarification from Ministry of Foreign Affairs on QNA news story

ABU DHABI: Maryam Al Falasi, Director of Media Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has made a statement on a news story transmitted by Qatar News Agency (QNA) last night about an audience between Qatari Foreign Minister, Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, and the acting U.A.E. Charge d’Affaires in Doha yesterday.

Al Falasi said the U.A.E. Embassy in Qatar had requested on 5th January 2014 the delivery of a message dated 12th December 2013 from Vice President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to the Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, dealing with the U.A.E.’s winning of the bid to host World Expo 2012 in Dubai.

She added that the message was a courtesy the U.A.E. sent to sisterly and friendly countries after the Dubai win of the Expo bid.

She also clarified that both the note and meeting had nothing to do with the recent developments which led Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and Bahrain to withdraw their ambassadors from Doha.
