Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi Extends Registration Deadline for Personal Watercraft

ABU DHABI: The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has extended the deadline of registration of Personal Watercrafts (Jet Ski) in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to April 30, 2014. The extension aims to allow all owners and businesses to register their Personal Watercrafts, where as non-registered Personal Watercrafts will not be allowed to practice water activities after the deadline.

The DoT has commenced the registration of PWC last August in line with its role in mapping out world-class policies and regulations for the transport sector in Abu Dhabi.

Humaid Saber Al Hameli, the Acting Director of the Maritime Sector at the DoT in Abu Dhabi said, “Extending the deadline of watercrafts registration reflects DoT’s commitment to enabling a larger segment of PWC owners to practice their water activities in accordance with standards that ensure highest levels of safety, security and protection of watercraft owners, other water users as well as environment-sensitive and tourist areas in Abu Dhabi.” The DoT set an easy process to PWC owners for registration and has announced the areas in which watercrafts are not allowed in Abu Dhabi waters.
