Dubai Airports promotes UAE talent at Emirates Festival of Literature

DUBAI: Dubai Airports is promoting U.A.E. culture and local authors at the 6th Emirates Festival of Literature 2014, which commenced in Dubai today, as sponsor of the festival’s Emirati Strand. The Emirati Strand this year will feature 25 local authors, including some of UAE’s most celebrated names as well as several budding writers.

Anita Mehra, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Dubai Airports said, “We are very proud of our association with the festival, and our support for the Emirati Strand is in line with Dubai Airports’ commitment to promote UAE’s culture by providing local authors a platform to share their work. We believe any event that promotes interests such as reading and writing is very important not only from a literacy point of view but also as a means to conserve culture and art; as such the Emirates Festival of Literature deserves to be supported and celebrated.”

The 2014 Festival which has become an eagerly anticipated annual event will welcome more than 120 writers, thinkers and speakers from 25 countries. It is expected that more than 30,000 visitors will attend the Festival which will have over 200 one-off sessions and unique events to be experienced and enjoyed in a programme that has been designed for wide appeal, with something to suit every taste.

The event is being held at The Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and in partnership with Emirates and the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture).
