Dubai Executive Council, Dubai Chamber host workshop on implementing Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030

DUBAI, The General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a joint workshop on implementing the Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030.

The workshop was attended by Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030’s implementation team and representatives of the emirate’s private sector. Launched last year by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the strategy includes six sub-sectors and aims to boost Dubai’s GDP by AED165 billion by 2030. The strategy seeks aims to strengthen local manufacturing industries and reduce energy consumption and levels of industrial pollution.

The workshop was held at the Chamber of Commerce and focused on current progress relating to the implementation of the new strategy to position Dubai as a global hub for knowledge-based, innovation and sustainable industrial activities. The meeting was also attended by 70 representatives from the private sector in Dubai, who shared their feedback on the new strategy and made suggestions for prioritising new plans and initiatives.

“As Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said, industry is an essential component for our national economy and we are working to implement a strategy to build a sustainable economy. We also recognise that public-private sector collaboration is the most effective way to achieve this vision and enhance Dubai’s industrial status, both regionally and globally,” stated Abdullah Al Shaibani, Secretary-General, Dubai Executive Council.

“Representatives from the private sector have joined us to discuss and draft the pillars of the strategy. The Council is planning to organise several workshops in the future to bring together both public and private sector players from various industries. These workshops will also outline recommendations for attracting investment across various industrial sectors, with the aim of further diversifying the economy,” he added.

According to the President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, Hamad Buamim, the Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030 that was implemented by the government of Dubai, is a key pillar of the emirate’s diversification strategy, adding that strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors will be key to the development of the emirate’s future economy.
