Emirates Medical Day an occasion to celebrate healthcare sector: Abdulla Al Hamed

ABU DHABI, Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), has underscored the Emirates Medical Day importance as an occasion to praise and highlight the efforts of the frontline heroes and their outstanding role in the continued development of the UAE’s healthcare sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Hamed said, “The Department values the ongoing efforts presented by the Emirates Medical Association (EMA), specifically on announcing the ‘Emirates Medical Day’, a meaningful initiative that seeks to shed light on the outstanding contribution of the frontline heroes to the healthcare sector in the UAE. Through this initiative, we aim to honour the healthcare professionals who work tirelessly with extreme dedication and sincerity to safeguard the health and safety of all members of the community, specifically during the challenging times we’ve battled over the last few years.

“While the sector continues to grow, we’ve witnessed the healthcare workforce in Abu Dhabi attract world-class talent, amplify global partnerships and elevate efforts related to research, which have positioned Abu Dhabi amongst the top global healthcare systems worldwide.”

He continued, “With the guidance of the UAE’s wise leadership, Abu Dhabi was able to execute a pioneering response model while battling the COVID-19 pandemic, making it a leading destination for healthcare. Given our medics outstanding support, Abu Dhabi was able to deliver a remarkable response and receive multiple recognitions and high rankings for topping the charts as one of the safest cities to reside in.

“The DoH continuously seeks to establish new methods and roll out initiatives that focus on providing our medical body with an exceptional career journey where they can refine their skills, learn international best practices and deliver quality care to patients.”

“In line with the directives of our wise leadership, we will continue to attract and empower international talents who are looking to work and reside in the UAE. The Department raised over 13,000 Golden Visa nominations representing a wide group of professionals from the healthcare sector in the emirate. Additionally, we will continue to roll out initiatives and programmes that will support in positioning Abu Dhabi as a leading destination for life science, research and quality care,” he concluded.
