Extradition Office reveals extradite details of former Baghdad Mayor Naeem Aboob

CoI’s Extradition Office confirmed that its working on extraditing the fugitive convict (Naeem Aboob Msaed), the former Mayor of Baghdad, indicating that it’s about to send the convict’s extradition file to the Syrian authorities.

In the course of discussing the taken actions concerning extraditing the convicted person, the Office confirmed that its working on completing the convict’s extradition file to hand it over to Iraqi Embassy in Damascus; to submit it to the competent authorities, indicating it took the applicable legal actions immediately upon receiving information on the arrest of the convict on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic; based on the red bulletin issued against him, which has been organized in cooperation and coordination between Extradition Office, the General Prosecution and the Directorate of Arab International Police.

It is worth mentioning that the fugitive convict (Naeem Aboob Msaed), the former Mayor of Baghdad, was convicted of a corruption case involving intentional damage to public funds in the development of the army canal and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in accordance with provisions of article 340 of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 amended.

Commission of Integrity praise the positive and rapid role of Iraqi authorities concerned with extraditing fugitive convict persons outside Iraq on corruption cases to ex ecute the sentences issued by Iraqi judiciary, looking forward to further efforts to combat corruption that requires concerted efforts to achieve this goal.
