Final status of Jerusalem should be determined by direct negotiations: Austria

VIENNA, Austria’s Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz has said his country will not be following the United States in its decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“I think you know our position. “Our position here in Austria, but also the position of our partners in the EU is very clear,” Kurz tells journalists in a briefing with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after asked about Austria’s stance on the move.

“We think that the final status of Jerusalem should be a result of direct negotiations between two parties there, and I think we should do anything possible to avoid further escalation in the region,” he said.
