Foreign Minister: The Tripartite Meeting Of Foreign Ministers Came Under The Guidance Of Leaders Of Countries To Promote Joint Cooperation

Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim held talks with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri in Baghdad to discuss a number of issues of interest to the three countries.

“The tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan came under the guidance of the leaders of these countries to enhance joint cooperation for the next phase,” Hakim said in press conference after the meeting.

He said that the tripartite meeting witnessed the discussion of political, security, technical and economic cooperation between the three countries in present and future.

He stressed the Iraq’s position to support the efforts of political solution and intensification of consultation, explaining that this position stems from the fact that the instability in the region is cause for concern and caused the turmoil in the region as a whole.

The position of Iraq from the crisis between Iran and the United States of America is with the truce and not with the escalation added that the meeting discussed the issue of the Palestinian and the Syrian crisis, which Iraq confirms that the end of this crisis lies in the Syrian-Syrian political solution,” he said.

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said the joint tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan discussed the establishment of periodic mechanisms for joint meetings at the political and economic levels.

We also discussed the political, security, technical, trade and housing issues, and agreed to intensify contacts for the purpose of finding peaceful solutions to all developments and challenges for the region, “he added.

“The meeting also discussed the Palestinian, Syrian and Libyan issues because they pose challenges as the three countries are directly involved and pose direct challenges to them. We look forward to ending these situations by peaceful means in the interest of the Arab peoples,” he added.

For his part, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stressed the support of Iraq for the great victories it has achieved on terrorism, and the dedication of this victory achieved by Iraq on terrorism, achievement and stability and tangible progress.

“We are here to instruct our leaders to work with us as part of an integrated vision to build relationships based on the many opportunities to promote cooperation and integration in the economic, political, security, tourism and cultural fields and to agree on institutional mechanisms to move forward to harvest positive results for this coordination,” he said.

“Our region is full of conflicts and crises and we do not need new crises. We need to work together to resolve these crises on the basis of security, peace and stability that our countries deserve from all our peoples,” he said.

He added that the three ministers discussed the crisis in the region, adding that the study included the Palestinian issue in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, indicating that the agreement was to work to reduce the escalation in the Gulf region; stressing that Arab security is coherent and any crisis affect the security of all.

The tripartite meeting in Baghdad comes within the framework of the implementation of the outcome of the tripartite summit meeting, which was convened by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, Jordanian King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdul Fattah al-Sisi “
