The Governor of Salfit, Major General Dr. Abdullah Kamil, opened today the “Popular Market” event, the first of its kind in the governorate, in the city of Salfit, organized by the Salfit Governorate in partnership with the Salfit Municipality, in the presence of the region’s commander, Brigadier General of Staff Ihab Al-Saidani, and the mayor of Salfit, Abdul Karim. Zubaidi and Director General of Salfit Agriculture, M. Ibrahim Al-Hamad, the head of the Chamber of Commerce, Fawaz Shehadeh, a number of directors and representatives of security, official, civil society institutions, women’s and cooperative associations, the Palestinian National Foundation for Economic Empowerment, and a crowd of citizens, to support the national product and preserve handicrafts and traditional industries.
Governor Kamil said: “The opening of the popular market is an opportunity for craftsmen, farmers, and active associations to display their products in an effort to support them in light of the difficult conditions that our people in the governorate are suffering from as a result of the practices of the Israeli occupation.”
Kamil added that the participation of craftsmen and associations in the popular market provides the opportunity to display the crafts up close, promote their projects, and display their products directly to customers, in addition to preserving the historical heritage, especially since most of the corners contain heritage works, indicating that he gave his instructions to the relevant authorities to adopt This market and its events every Tuesday of every week in partnership with the Municipality of Salfit.
In turn, the mayor of Salfit, Abdul Karim Zubaidi, praised the efforts of Salfit Governorate and its governor in this regard, pointing out that the popular market is a means of promoting the Palestinian national product, and that the idea of the market is based on displaying agricultural and craft products in order to enhance individual economic activities and alleviate the severity of economic conditions.
For their part, the participants thanked Governor Kamil and those in charge of this marketing idea for their products, which helps improve the economic situation of many families whose income depends on these handicrafts, crafts, and agricultural items. They demanded that shopping days be continuous to market their various products, extending their thanks and appreciation to those in charge of this market.
It is noteworthy that the popular market included a display of heritage craft products, embroideries, popular foods, and agricultural products from farmers from neighboring villages
