DUBAI, As part of the Gulf Intervention Society (GIS) mission and its continuous plan for medical education, GIS is conducting a Continuous Medical Educational (CME) programme for Interventional Cardiologist, Cardiac Surgeons, Nurses and tech-nurses from all over the region, from 3rd to 4th June, in Sofitel Hotels, Dubai.
Commenting on the programme, Dr. Fawaz Al Mutairi, President, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at King Abdulaziz Cardiac Centre, National Guard Hospital, Riyadh, said, “GIS Valves Programme will present recent updates on the Intervention Cardiology by sharing the International and the Gulf experience. During the meeting, participants will be exposed to the integration of advanced technologies in the Structural Heart Diseases which will be demonstrated and discussed during the programme and through an open discussion.”
He noted that the two-day hybrid event will also have live streamed cases from Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Chest Diseases Hospital, Kuwait, to aid the spread of information between GCC healthcare professionals.
Abdullah Shehab, GIS Vice President, commented, “The growing interest in our societies to address heart diseases is evidence of the importance of organising this type of medical events in order to increase the exchange of experiences between specialists and stakeholders and improve the level of medical services in this field.”
Dr. Khalid bin Thani, Treasurer of GIS, Professor of Cardiology in UAE, said, “This year in our annual conference that’s happening from 3rd to 5th November at Intercontinental Festival City, Dubai, we will see a combination of live speakers sharing cutting edge news alongside live streams to ensure we reach a wide network. We want to empower our fellow physicians to share responsibility for our patients, each other, and the health care sector as a whole.”
Dr. Mousa Akbar, GIS General-Secretary, Interventional Cardiologist Consultant, Head of Cardiology Unit at Al Sabah Hospital, Kuwait, added, “In line with the GIS mission, the conference recognises its responsibility to promote the highest possible educational levels, research tools, community interactions and ethical behaviour by its members, and will feature updates on all new guidelines and recent trials in the field of cardiology Intervention amongst attendees with opportunities to network and share experiences with locally based and international experts in the field.”
Moreover, the society has worked during the past years to create an electronic educational platform that include updated resources that can help physicians and health professionals in their educational track.
Since its establishment in 2018, GIS activities has seen attendance and participation increase by 70 percent year-on-year.
