Hamdan commends Khalifa’s support for falconry

Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club (EFC), has praised President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s consistent support for activities associated with revival and preservation of indigenous culture and heritage out of his deep belief that future is built on established identity.

”Falconry is the sports of fathers and forefathers which passed to us by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and our wise leadership and UAE people are staying the same course,” Sheikh Hamdan said as he received the organising committee of the Abu Dhabi Falconry Competition Abu Dhabi is hosting from 29 November to 3 December 2012 to coincide with the 41st National Day celebrations.

Sheikh Hamdan was updated on arrangements for organising the competition under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, whom Sheikh Hamdan also hailed for lending proper attention to these events.

The competition is aimed at preserving the national culture and heritage as falconry is considered a traditional sport in the UAE.
