House Speaker Receives Egyptian And Jordanian Foreign Ministers

Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi discussed with Egyptian Foreign Ministers Sameh Shukri and Jordan’s Ayman Safadi the importance of convening the meeting of energy, housing, trade and industry ministers of the three countries in Baghdad.

Al-Halboussi said during the meeting, in the presence of a number of MPs of the Foreign Relations Committee and Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim, “Baghdad today, glorifying its victory over terrorism, looks forward to its brothers to joint Arab action to meet the challenges both to combat the roots of terrorism and eliminate the extremist ideology or in political and economic cooperation, which reflects on our peoples and the region in general, hailing the convening of the tripartite meeting of foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq to develop mechanisms of cooperation and integration between the three countries, and exchange visions and evaluation on Arab and regional issues.

Al Halboussi said ” in the House of Representatives we work alongside the executive authority to build the best relations with our the Arab and push towards creating a common Arab vision that serves our peoples and their future,” pointing out that “joint parliamentary work with Arab parliaments reinforces this trend.”

The meeting discussed cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, strengthening economic cooperation, developing joint industrial zones, energy sectors, infrastructure and reconstruction, and the importance of convening the meeting of ministers of energy, housing, trade and industry of the three countries in Baghdad, stressing the importance of coordinating positions to meet the challenges of the region.

The Egyptian minister stressed that the tripartite cooperation is not confined to the executive aspect, but rather to the joint parliamentary coordination, adding that what we notice in Baghdad gives great hope for the stability that has been achieved. For his part, the Jordanian foreign minister said that we are keen to support Iraq, which fought a war on behalf of all of us.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim briefed the Speaker on the summit between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan, which has achieved consensus in the regional positions and strengthened relations of mutual cooperation in all fields.
