Iranian Ambassador: The targeted trade volume with Iraq is $ 20 billion

BAGHDAD Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, said on Monday that the targeted trade volume with Iraq is 20 billion dollars.

“The Iraqi market is the first export destination for Iranian goods, as Iran has surpassed China and Turkey in this market,” Masjedi said in a speech at the ceremony marking the Iraqi Martyr Day.

The Iranian Ambassador predicted that 40 Iranian exhibitions will be held in Iraq until 21 of March 2020, indicating that trade with Iraq has grown by 2.5 billion dollars last year, as well as increased sales of electricity and gas to the country.

Masjedi announced the drafting of a document to facilitate the issuance of visas to traders and industrial and economic activists between the two sides.

He pointed out that the upcoming visit of President Rowhani to Baghdad aims to strengthen bilateral relations politically, economically, culturally and socially, and will result in several agreements, including the railway line from the city of Khorramshahr (southwest) to Basra, the development of industrial cities, visas, custom matters and medical cooperation.
