Iraq, Turkey Discuss Joint Interconnection Of Electric Power System

Baghdad, Electricity Minister Luay Al-Khatib discussed with the Turkish government delegation represented by Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Dumiz ways of cooperation between the two countries in the field of electric power.

Khatib started, according to a statement by the ministry / on the important commons that contribute effectively to the consolidation of economic and fraternal relations between the two countries, which will be part of the plans of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity in the coming period, represented by several projects, most notably the joint link between the two countries to the electric power system.

He pointed out to the great role played by the private sector in various countries of the world in providing electricity in the field of production, and this cannot be done without freedom from bureaucratic restrictions.

For his part, the Turkish Minister stressed the importance of the joint interconnection project which will benefit the two countries as it will create a promising commercial market, which will activate the energy trade between neighboring countries in general, in addition to creating an integrated synchronous electrical network aimed at achieving stability in the energy system. .

The two sides agreed on the necessity of conducting mutual visits, which lead to exchange of experiences, and benefit both parties, and emphasize the exploitation of investment opportunities, and expand their horizons, and attract Turkish specialized companies to Iraq to contribute to the development of the electricity system in the country.
