Liaison Officers of GCC-Stat hold first meeting

Muscat: The liaison officers of the Statistical Centre of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States, GCC Statistical (GCC-Stat), have held a meeting during which they reviewed the plans and programmes of GCC-Stat, discussed developing annual statistical bulletins and the mechanism of communication between liaison officers, its organisation and discussed both the challenges facing officers, and the solutions proposed to address them.

The meeting, which took place in Muscat, also reviewed the latest developments in the statistical services in the GCC countries.

According to the Omani News Agency, at the end of the meeting, the participants paid a visit to the headquarters of the GCC Statistical Centre to learn about the mechanism of its work and met with officials and advisors in the centre.

Hissa al-Janahi, GCC-Stat Advisor, said in a speech that the centre’s publications and statistical reports are one of the main tasks entrusted to GCC-Stat, adding that the publication of these reports and bulletins depend on data flow from the sources, the statistical bodies in GCC countries.

She noted that GCC-Stat seeks to create a mechanism to enable the liaison officers to communicate with a high degree of efficiency which reflects positively on the quality of reports.
