Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman confirmed: “The visit of the Kurdish delegation to Baghdad was positive,” noting: “The results of the visit will appear tomorrow, Sunday.”
Othman said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “The visit of the Kurdish delegation headed by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and his deputy, Qubad Talabani, to Baghdad, and his meeting with the Prime Minister and a large number of leaders of political blocs and parties, was good and filled with optimism for resolving some of the outstanding problems between Baghdad and Erbil, especially on the issue of salaries for employees of the Kurdistan region, as the leaders of the blocs in Baghdad expressed their understanding of what was raised during the meetings.”
Othman explained: “The results of the visit will appear in the Council of Ministers session, which will be held tomorrow, Sunday, and in the decisions of the session,” indicating: “Al- Sudani wants to resolve the problems between Baghdad and Erbil before he travels to the United States soon.”
He pointed to the intervention of some countries towards resolving the problems between Baghdad and Erbil, pointing out: “The Kurdish delegation going unified by the two major parties (the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) is a good thing for them and enhances the chances of successful negotiations with Baghdad.”
