Minister Al-Roumi meets ICA President

DUBAI: The UAE gives special attention to cooperatives to promote citizens’ contribution to social and economic development as well as to elevate their life standards through providing annual income and good quality consumer goods for reasonable prices, according to Minister of Social Affairs Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi.

“Cooperatives also play a role in limiting price rises and countering monopoly,” the minister said in remarks at a recent meeting in London with the President of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) Dame Pauline Green on the sidelines of ICA’a conference and exhibition held between 31 October-2 November.

The minister further said “the UAE is open to all human successful experiences and is interested in cooperation with ICA.” For her part, President of ICA Dame Pauline Green noted that the Alliance was ready to provide the UAE with necessary technical help and expertise to help it build good relations with cooperatives to provide good consumer goods for good prices.
