MUSEVENI FLIES TO UAE FOR BILATERAL TALKS

KAMPALA, Dec. 8 –President Museveni on Sunday flew out of the country for a four-day state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the visit, the President will hold bilateral talks with President Nahyan and later meet business partners and investors from UAE, according to a statement from State House.

Museveni was accompanied by various government officials from different ministries, including trade and industry.

The UAE is a federation of seven states formed in 1971 after independence from Britain.

Since then, it has become one of Middle East’s most important economic centres.

Since the discovery of oil in the UAE more than 30 years ago, the country has undergone profound transformation from an impoverished region of small desert principalities to a modern state with a high standard of living.

UAE’s per capita gross domestic product is at par with that of leading West European nations.
