Pakistani Prime Minister visits Kabul

KABUL, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday arrived in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on a one-day visit aimed at improving tense relations between the countries, the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA) has reported.

Abbasi will meet with President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan, and the country’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, said Dawa Khan Menapal, Deputy to the spokesperson of the president.

It is the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to Afghanistan in nearly three years.

According to a statement of the Prime Minister office of Pakistan, the Prime Minister will have in-depth consultations with President Ghani and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on matters of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral political, economic, security and counter-terrorism cooperation, return of Afghan refugees, combating drug production and narco-trade, Afghan peace process and regional political and security situation.
