Pastor of Marmina Coptic Church in Jebel Ali praises UAE’s tolerant approach

DUBAI, Father Mina Hanna, Pastor of the Marmina Coptic Church in Jebel Ali, said today that the United Arab Emirates is a global role model for tolerance.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) ahead of the historic visits to the UAE of Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, and of the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, Father Hanna noted that the UAE was the first country in the world to establish a Ministry for Tolerance, “sending a clear message to the world on how peaceful co-existence and human fraternity should be.”

The meeting between Pope Francis and the Grand Imam, he said, would be ‘a milestone in promoting interfaith dialogue that sends a message of love and fraternity to the entire world.”
