President El-Sisi Receives UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, CEO of Abu Dhabi Holding, Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, and UAE Ambassador in Cairo, Ambassador Maryam Al Kaabi.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the President welcomed the visit of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed to Egypt, asking him to convey his greetings to his brother, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. The President underscored the special characteristics of the Egyptian-Emirati relations, which extend over decades since the era of late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, who contributed to solidifying these relations. The President added that this reflected on the close coordination between the two brotherly countries, valuing the UAE’s positions in support of Egypt in a multitude of critical and historical turning points.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his honor to meet with President El-Sisi, conveying to the President the greetings of President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed keenness on strengthening and consolidating the strategic relations between the two countries, aiming to achieve the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples and enhance security and stability in the region, particularly in light of Egypt’s valued efforts to maintain peace and security at the regional level during the current delicate stage, in which challenges are growing.

The Spokesman noted that the meeting discussed ways to foster closer bilateral relations at various levels, particularly at the economic level. The meeting also tackled increasing Emirati investments in several fields in Egypt, mainly in the sectors of energy, transport, ports and tourism.

The latest regional developments and issues of common concern were also reviewed during the talks. President El-Sisi stressed the importance and vitality of the role played by the UAE and its leadership in countering the challenges facing the Arab nation. The UAE Foreign Minister, for his part, commended Egypt’s central role in the region as a cornerstone for security and stability of the Arab world. Minister of Foreign Affairs also lauded Egypt’s keenness on strengthening solidarity among the Arab countries and on advancing joint Arab action.
