President: The Priority Of Iraq’s Relations With Its Brothers In Accordance With The Policy Of Openness To Arab Environment And Islamic Depth

President Barham Saleh affirmed that Iraq gives priority to its relations with its brothers in accordance with the policy of openness to its Arab environment and its Islamic depth, and said that “we are keen to consolidate it by exchanging ideas and visions on current issues and events.”

During his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri and Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Saleh stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation among Arab brothers in all fields, especially with regard to developments in the region, stressing the importance of developing the foundations of joint Arab action to achieve welfare and economic prosperity for our peoples.

He praised the tripartite meeting between the foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan in Baghdad, which embodies the desire and strive to be Iraq a meet point for friends and brothers and exchange common interests to contribute to the security and stability of the region. He stressed the importance of following up the implementation of the outcomes of the summit of leaders of the three countries, held last March in Cairo.

During the meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim, he discussed ways to strengthen Arab relations and efforts to reach political solutions to crises in the region and to support Iraq in the reconstruction of areas liberated from the control of the Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization.
