President’s Initiatives Committee grants 207 houses and announces list of 544 eligible applicants

WAM Abu Dhabi: A total of 207 Emiratis will get houses in various Emirates, the Follow up Committee of Initiatives of UAE President has announced. The Committee has also released a preliminary list of 554 eligible applicants for houses and demanded them to report to the Ministry of Public Works to complete their transactions for final approval. The Committee has given these houses after thoroughly reviewing findings of a study commissioned by the Court of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, which contained lists of prospective homeowners.

Ahmed Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Committee, said the houses were granted to applicants who had satisfied all requirements and criteria for getting government houses in implementation of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives to provide citizens with highest standards of living conditions and establish modern infrastructure across the Emirates, and close follow up by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

”The Committee will spare no effort to implement the Presidential directives, which we consider, as a road map in discharging its duties,” he added. In its recent meeting at the Presidential Court, the Committee has given its consent for awarding five projects worth AED 100 million in areas of housing, roads, water, sewerage and health.

The Committee approved the awarding of two contracts for building 100 houses for citizens at Al Hamra Island area in emirate of Ra’s al Khaimah at a total cost of AED 83.8 million and 12 houses worth AED 8.9 million at Masafi in emirate of Fujairah. Construction of the first and second housing projects will take 480 and 400 days respectively to complete A one-year contract will be awarded for engineering consulting and supervision services to phase 1 of Khor Fakkan western ring road at a total cost of AED 1 m.

The Committee also endorsed the awarding of about AED 3.1 million contract for expansion of Mamdouh Lake Dam in Ra’s al Khaimah. The duration of the project execution is 150 days. It also approved awarding of a contract for design and supervision of the waste water collection network at Al Hamra island area and waste water treatment station for plant at Al Harai in Khor Fakkan.

Cost of design and supervision of the two stations were estimated at AED 691,423 and AED 360,000 respectively while the design of networks in both areas were estimated at AED 266,200. Al Za’abi noted that those two projects boast of being the first under the new policy of building world-class, best architectural design, and fully-serviced residential communities. The Committee is currently building 100 houses in both areas. The Committee also approved awarding a contract for supply and installation of breast cancer mammography devices at a total cost of AED 2.6 million.
