Registration opens for ‘Sharjah Excellence Award’

SHARJAH, The registrations for the new edition of the Sharjah Excellence Award 2019 have been launched since the beginning of May, the Board of Trustees of the award have announced.

Registrations will last until the end of September 2019.

The SCCI also explained that the excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality Management, EFQM, is considered a comprehensive management framework since more than 30,000 major enterprises around the world are relying on this model.

The chamber announced that the registration in the EFQM-based award is now open to all facilities and enterprises in the seven categories of the award. These are Sharjah Excellence Award, Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award, Sharjah Green Award, Sharjah Small and Medium Enterprise Award, Sharjah CSR Award, Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award and Sharjah Gulf Localisation Award.

Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award, said that the participation fee for the main award is AED3,000, noting that the registration in the other award categories, including Gulf ones will be free of charge.

She also spoke about the changes and amendments to the award. These include changing the name of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award to the Sharjah Excellence Award, and changing the name of Sharjah Award for Emerging Projects in the United Arab Emirates to the Sharjah Small and Medium Enterprises Award and separating them into two categories, each of which includes two winners, who would receive AED25,000 each. Those two categories include the Micro Enterprises with five or fewer employees and the Small and Medium Enterprises with more than five staff members.

Moreover, the amendments included allowing all Emiratis to take part in the “Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award” category which is dedicated to the most successful businessmen in the UAE. In this category, two winners would be selected, and each of them would receive AED50,000.

Al Hajri said the new changes simplify the process of participation in the award and facilitate its procedures in all categories, especially in the Sharjah Gulf Localization Award and Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award.

The Sharjah Excellence Award is held under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council.
