River Plate crush Kashima Antlers 4-0, secure bronze at FIFA Club World Cup

ABU DHABI, Copa Libertadores champion River Plate earned today its first Third Place spot in the FIFA Club World Cup after crushing Asian Champions Kashima Antlers 4-0.

The Argentinians bounced back from their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final disappointment at the hands of the host team Al Ain to record a smooth-sailing victory over their Japanese peers in the match for third place at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.

Goals from Bruno Zuculini, Santos Borre and a farewell brace from Gonzalo Martinez saw the Argentinian side take bronze in Abu Dhabi.

In the meantime, local champions Al Ain are seeking to become the first Arab-Asian club to clinch the prestigious title as they are now taking on Real Madrid who are looking for their third Club World Cup title in a row in Abu Dhabi.
