Sharjah Museums participates in Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions Exhibition

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Museums’ Department, SMD, has participated in the recently concluded seventh edition of Gulf Educational Supplies and Solutions Exhibition (GESS 2014) and Global Education Forum (GEF 2014).

Through its participation for the second consecutive year, the SMD aimed to spread awareness of its educational programmes and knowledge of its museums’ massive collections.

The department hosted a stand at the exhibition, displaying a unique Holy Quran from the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, in support of Sharjah’s status as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2014.

The exhibition was held alongside the Global Education Forum, attracting regional and international teachers and educators.

Manal Ataya, Director-General of Sharjah Museums Department, said, “Every year we take part in this event aiming to familiarise visitors and teachers, in particular of the wide spectrum of educational programmes and workshops offered by SMD. Our specially-tailored programmes are suitable for adults and children of all abilities and interests and run all year-round, to ensure everyone has access and opportunity to learning in a fun and unique museum environment.”
