Sharjah Ruler attends AUS Alumni Reunion Reception
SHARJAH, The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has been a long way since its inception towards becoming a pioneering university for higher education in the region, said H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the AUS, at the annual Alumni Reunion Ceremony, held this evening in the university’s campus.
His Highness Dr. Sheikh Dr. Sultan welcomed the alumni back to campus, expressing sincere thanks for all those who have come a long way from different parts of the world to their “university and second home.”
“After your graduation, you have all embarked on different paths. But you return every year to your alma mater where your names are engraved on the walls of this university. Always remember your university as it will always remember you,” he added.
The alumni reunion is one of the highlights of the AUS calendar, as it allows alumni from all over the world to convene at the university and share with their former professors and peers the direction their lives had taken.
A poem was delivered during the ceremony by poet Ali Al Khawar in honour of the university’s founder H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan and in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of its establishment.
On the occasion of the Year of Zayed, an impressive mosaic of the UAE founder, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was showcased during the ceremony.
