The Foreign Ministry discusses with a UN official files of cooperation with UN agencies working in Iraq

The Acting Head of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fadel Al-Rahim received at the Ministry’s headquarters the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian and Development Affairs in Iraq, Ghulam Ishaq.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: “The two sides discussed files of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations offices and agencies working in Iraq in the development and humanitarian fields, and the programs implemented by those agencies over the past few years in the development field and in the fields of humanitarian aid and support to the displaced persons, and in coordination with the relevant Iraqi state ministries were discussed.”

Views were also exchanged on ways to organize joint cooperation frameworks between Iraq and United Nations development and humanitarian agencies over the coming years and how to align this cooperation with the goals and priorities of the government program related to development, cultural and humanitarian affairs, in a way that contributes to improving the performance of relevant state institutions and providing the best services to citizens.
