The Sudanese Army Agrees to a Three-Day Truce to Secure Humanitarian Services On Eid al-Fitr

The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced today, Friday, the approval of a truce for a period of three days, starting today.

A statement by the General Command said that the Sudanese Armed Forces agreed to a truce for a period of three days, starting today, Friday, April 21, to enable Sudanese citizens to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, and for the flow of humanitarian services, according to what was published by the Office of the Official Spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces.

The official spokesman for the armed forces said: The armed forces hope that the rebels will abide by all the requirements of the armistice and stop any military movements that would obstruct it.

On a related level, the US Secretary of Defense said in his statements: We continue to closely monitor the situation in Sudan, and we have several options regarding developments in Sudan, including the possible evacuation of our nationals.

He added, “We look forward to providing as many options as possible regarding Sudan, and we have deployed some forces near Sudan as a precaution so that we have options when needed.
